Glen’s Origin Story
Glen, born and raised in the south of Johannesburg, South Africa started his technology career at the very bottom of a South African explosives and chemicals giant after completing high school.
After several years he moved to a multinational investment bank to join the IT department as a Senior Technician. At the end of 1999, Glen was headhunted to manage the IT department of a global European Head Quartered investment bank. This was a career move that ultimately kickstarted the next phase in his management career.
This phase started as the Assistant Manager of three desktop support engineers responsible for the country HO in Johannesburg and a satellite office in Cape Town. Four years later, Glen was promoted to Associate Director as Head of IT for South Africa and the UAE, circa 40 people supporting nine major offices and two Regional Head Offices. The AD role also included defined regional responsibilities across Europe.
The following year, Glen embarked on the next entrepreneurial phase of his career as co-founder of a technology services provider. This company was hugely successful and was sold several years later. Glen, and one of the original founding members, Mark, then started what is WEH today.
Glen has served in an Executive Management role for more than half his working career in a range of organizations including the Financial Services sector and at the helm of co-owned businesses. This has given him global exposure, being responsible for multi-customer services spanning multiple countries and time zones.
Glen is a team player with an extremely high work ethic, believes in people and delivering on what has been promised, whether written or verbal. He has great people skills even if not believing ‘the customer is always right’ but that there is always a way to make the customer feel that way by reaching a happy medium.
